ZZ3F349F97.jpg Many people spend the majority of their day sitting at a desk and staring at a computer screen (for me it’s about 10 hours a day). There’s lots of different names for it like Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), Cumulative Trauma Disorder (CTD), Occupational Overuse Syndrome, or Work Related Upper Limb Disorder (WRULD).

I’ve put together a list of computer programs (some are even free) that can help you reduce the back strain of sitting at your desk all day long. Simply put, they are reminder programs that help you to remember to take regular breaks at timed intervals. Some even give you tips on how to stretch.

RSI Warrior (Windows, $50)

Stretch Break (Window, $45)

Stretchware (Windows & Mac, $25)

Workrave (Windows, Free) Highly recommended

MacBreakZ (Mac, $25)

Timeout (Mac, Free) Recommended

AntiRSI (Mac, Free) Easy to use

This is far from a complete list, so if you have other programs you want to add just leave a comment below.
