Talk of The Nation, an NPR news talkshow, recently discussed pain management and prescription painkillers. Back pain was a frequent topic from several callers and they discussed several interesting topics about treating pain and about how doctors walk a fine line in treating patients who are seeking relief from chronic pain.

The guests include Dr. Paul Christo, director of the Multidisciplinary Pain Fellowship Program, Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Division of Pain Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Sandra Johnson, professor emerita of law and health care ethics at St. Louis University Law School. Mark Caverly, supervisory diversion investigator for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
